The TGT86 is Link's G5 plug-in ECU for the first-generation Toyota 86, Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S with the FA20 (4U-GSE). This is the left-hand-drive version: a billet aluminium unit that bolts to the factory ECU bracket behind the glovebox and plugs into the original connectors. It controls both the direct and port injection, runs the factory electronic throttle, and works with manual and automatic cars.

- Toyota 86 ZN6, FA20 (4U-GSE), 2012-2021
- Toyota GT86 ZN6, FA20 (4U-GSE), 2012-2021

- Scion FR-S, FA20 (4U-GSE), 2012-2016
- Left-hand-drive cars only
Before you order
- Left-hand-drive cars only. The factory ECU location is tight and Link mounts the LHD and RHD versions differently. Right-hand-drive cars need the RHD version (241-4000).
- Manual and automatic transmissions are both supported.
- Compare the connector on your factory ECU with the header shown in the product photos before ordering.
- 2017-on (facelift) cars: they use a Hall-effect crank sensor and a 4-pin direct-injection fuel pressure sensor. Boards from revision 05 have the extra pull-up resistor that sensor needs built in, and Link supplies matching 2017-on sample maps. Revision 04 boards need the resistor wired in and the trigger and fuel pressure settings changed. If your car is a 2017 or later, confirm the board revision with us before ordering.
- On 2017-on cars the alternator and battery sensors run on LIN, which this ECU does not connect to; Link reports the alternator still charges at around 13.8 V.
- The factory wide-range air/fuel sensor is not supported (the factory narrowband sensor is), and Link recommends fitting an aftermarket wideband.
- Adding boost means replacing the factory MAP sensor with a higher-range one.
- It arrives with a base map that gets the engine started; that is a starting point, not a finished tune. Tuning is done in Link's free PCLink software on a Windows laptop, and the USB-C cable and a locking USB-C extension are in the box.
Highlights
- Controls the FA20's direct and port injection, including the factory direct-injection driver box.
- Runs the factory electronic throttle and VVT-i.
- Reads the car's factory CAN network: wheel speeds, brake pressure, steering angle, tyre pressures and the VSC and traction buttons are available to the ECU, and automatic torque requests are supported.
- CAN 1 on a pre-installed DTM4 cable for a dash or keypad.
- Two knock inputs, one per bank.
- Billet CNC aluminium enclosure with a USB-C tuning port and a locking USB-C extension.
- Link feature set: flex fuel, open- and closed-loop boost control, dual closed-loop lambda, launch control, anti-lag, traction control and 512 MB of onboard logging.
