The WRX11X is Link's G4X plug-in ECU for Subaru WRX and STI models that use the common international Denso ECU pinout: 2007-2014 GE, GH, GR and GV cars from world markets, 2008-2010 USDM cars, and 2015-2021 VA STIs outside North America. It keeps DCCD, SI-Drive, the MFD and the factory safety systems working, drives the electronic throttle directly, and ships with a startup map. North American cars from 2011 on use a different pinout and need the USDM WRX11X (243-4000).

Fits

  • Subaru WRX and WRX STI, GE/GH/GR/GV, turbo EJ20 or EJ25, 2007-2014, JDM, AUDM, SADM and European markets
  • Subaru WRX and WRX STI, 2008-2010 USDM cars with the common international Denso ECU pinout
  • Subaru WRX STI, VAB/VAF, turbo EJ20 or EJ25, 2015-2021, JDM, AUDM, SADM and European markets

Before you order

  • Check plug B134 on your factory ECU harness, positions 1, 2 and 3. No wires there: this WRX11X. Wires present: you need the USDM WRX11X (243-4000). Link warns that the wrong unit can damage the ECU and the car. 2010 is a crossover year: early 2010 US cars use this unit, some late 2010 cars need the USDM version, and the B134 check settles it.
  • WRX and STI models sold new in the US or Canada from 2011 on are not covered; they take the USDM WRX11X (243-4000). The 2015-on WRX with the FA direct-injection engine is not supported by either unit.
  • Manual transmission only.
  • Known limitations listed by Link: the security or immobiliser lamp can stay lit on some key-start cars with the factory immobiliser, the secondary air pump is not supported, and A/C request and the check engine lamp have been reported not working on some 2013-2014 cars.
  • The factory front oxygen sensor is not connected (Link's pinout lists it as unused), so plan on an aftermarket wideband for closed-loop fuel control.
  • Link highly recommends an intake air temperature sensor on cars without a factory one.
  • Installation: the Link board goes into the factory ECU case, with a rectangular hole cut in the back wall of the case for the USB cable.
  • It arrives with a base map that gets the engine started; that is a starting point, not a finished tune. Tuning is done in Link's free PCLink software on a Windows laptop, and the USB tuning cable is in the box.

Highlights

  • Keeps factory DCCD, SI-Drive, the MFD with trip computer and gear display, ABS, stability control and hill start assist working.
  • Factory CAN data such as wheel speeds, brake pressure, steering angle, handbrake and diff mode is available for logging and control strategies.
  • Drives the factory electronic throttle directly, and runs intake and exhaust AVCS on engines that have both.
  • Eight injector drives for sequential staged injection on big-power builds.
  • 4-pin powered CAN port for a dash, keypad or CAN lambda through Link's CANJST4 cable (101-0198), with a 12 V feed protected by a 3 A self-resetting fuse.
  • G4X feature set: flex fuel, open- and closed-loop boost control, launch control, anti-lag, traction control and 512 MB of onboard logging.
